Community School golf is coming to a close, but this does not mean that they are anywhere close to finished. The golf team has just taken third place in the district tournament, helped by the team high, fifth place finish by Andrew O’Connor ‘20. O’Connor shot an 88 on the day. The golf team now faces their next challenge at state. Junior John Weeks is optimistic. “Hopefully we all do well, our ultimate goal is a top five finish at state and hopefully we can get there.”
Andrew O’Connor, John Weeks, Willie DeWolfe ‘21, Wilson Baker ‘22, and Kyle Kohen ‘22 are the Cutthroats representing the team at state, and with no seniors on the roster, they have a bright future. Freshman Kyle Cohen thinks the team is ready to go, saying, “Our team has worked really hard this season, and we are glad to get a chance to show our talent at state.” The state tournament is next Monday and Tuesday in Burley, and the tournament should be an action packed two days. The Cutthroats know this course well and should be in the running for the state title. Try and wish these golfers good luck over the next couple of days as they prepare for their biggest tournament yet.
Scores for the district tournament: Andrew O’Connor: 88. John Weeks: 94. Kyle Cohen, 102. Wilson Baker, 112. Willie DeWolfe, 135.
