The track team made the exciting trip to Valley High School in Hazleton. This meet was especially special because it was the District Meet. As for the women, Christine Estep placed 8th in the 100M with a time of 14.39. Sophia Mazzoni placed 3rd in the 800M with a time of 2.24.84, which is now the school record. Sophia Qualified for state with this time. Rosa Schaffner also competed in the 800M and placed 20th, with a time of 3.24.39. Sophia also ran in the 1600M and again placed 3rd with a time of 5.29.8, again setting a new school record, and also qualified for state with this time. As for the Men, Jake Lunn placed second in the 100M with a state qualifying time of 11.77. He also qualified for state in the 200M with a time of 23.87 which put him in 3rd. Ted Yewer also qualified for state in the 400M in 3rd place with a time of 53.26. He also ran the 800M with a time of 2.14.99, putting him in 8th place. Ridley Lindstrom, Cash Dart, Jake Lunn, and Huck Dirksmeyer competed in the Spring Medley Relay, but unfortunately was disqualified.
Congratulations to Sophia, Jake and Ted for qualifying for the State Championship. This will be held Friday May 17 and Saturday May 18 at Middleton High School.
