Sun Valley Community School varsity golf has had a productive start. The team has won multiple tournaments and has placed high in the others. Andrew O’Connor (‘20) has especially had a great season, as he has placed first multiple times. As team member John Weekes (‘20) said, “We are all improving, but I think we have a really good chance at state.” Weekes is coming off of a second and a fourth place finish, and he thinks that the team is looking strong. Freshman, Kyle Cohen (’22), is coming off of two third place finishes, and with this many Cutthroats on the podium, the golf team is repping the school spirit.
For this Community School team to make it to state, they must place at least third in the upcoming district tournament, which is no simple task. The tournament is this upcoming Tuesday in Twin, and it should be a great day to watch some golf. If the Cutthroats qualify for state, they will be in Burley the following week to prove their skills. Newcomer Willie Dewolf (‘21) is excited about the prospect of playing in these tournaments, saying, “I’m really having fun playing some golf, and I hope that I can play some at state.” No matter the result, the golf team should rest assured knowing that they have all of Community School rooting for them. Additionally the boys proved their school spirit sharing a ‘Carpool Karaoke’ video as part of a green week competition!
